Last Sunday, April 29th,  the short film Betova – the year of the dog, by Alan Langdon, received the Honorable Mention of the Jury at FAÇA – Festival Audiovisual Catarinense.  The jury, composed of renowned filmmakers Luiz Carlos Barreto, Cavi Borges and Luiz Alberto Cassol, were impressed by the short film and awarded the documentary  ”for its original editing approach and for the off-beat narrative structure”.

The short film Betova – the year of the dog summarizes in 15 minutes an extensive online project in which the filmmaker documented the dog’s first year of life, posting 365 daily web-episodes. The short film can be seen at the project’s site, enabling Closed Caption for english subtitles:

At the website one can also view the 365 individual episodes, which amount to over 4 hours.

And 2011 is already in full speed: the 15-minute short film BETOVA – the year of dog, available for viewing HERE, was selected for the Mostra do Filme Livre 2011 in Rio de Janeiro. The film will be shown on the 20th and 27th of March, in the program Another Look, according to the site: click HERE to learn more.

The short film, which condenses a year in the house of director Alan Langdon, part of a project The Year of the Dog, which includes the site where the public can monitor day-to-day skinny bitch Betova’s first year . Today, almost eight years later, Betova is a bit more tired but willing to participate in future audiovisual achievements. Director Alan Langdon is said to be preparing a short film with the provisional title House of Saturn, in which Betova will appear again at home.
